Fires Safety

Fire and Us

A fire door is a door with a fire-resistance rating (sometimes referred to as a fire protection rating for closures) used as part of a passive fire protection system to reduce the spread of fire and smoke between rooms, and to enable safe egress from a building. All fire doors must be installed with the appropriate fire-resistant fittings, which includes both the frame and door hardware, for it to fully comply with any fire regulations.

Our professional maintenance service has now included as part of our team, professional fitters, which will also fit standard fire door which would be fitted to kitchen door and frame areas, front doors with 30-minute fire resistant and combined cold smoke seals with intumescent strips fitted and self-closing hinges. We are now installing thumb locks to inside bedroom doors to help with easier exit.

Fire boarding can also be installed into cupboards housing both gas and electric meters, where additional cabling and pipping is bound to be found.

The work although can be costly due to the materials being used including.

Fire doors may be made of a combination of materials, such as; timber, steel, vermiculite boards, aluminium, glass and gypsum as an endothermic fill.

Fire doors play a major role in the fire safety and protection of all buildings covered by the FSO and it is important that fire doors are inspected correctly and maintained in order to ensure compliance.
